Clinical Diabetes Centre

In March 2003, the Internal Medicine Clinic II of the Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH was certified as a "Clinical Diabetes Centre" in accordance with the guidelines of the German Diabetes Society (DDG). The organization can use the title of Clinical Diabetes Centre for a period of three years.

DDG accreditation is only awarded to diabetes clinics which can provide a multidisciplinary care of patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. To be awarded this recognition, an organization must provide evidence on how its high quality of care is achieved through quality assurance measures.

With these quality guidelines, DDG aims to supplement the existing programmes for quality assurance and quality development for the care of diabetic patients in Germany. The objective is to set up a structured network of special units for the comprehensive care of problem patients.
