Stroke Unit

The Stroke Unit of the Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH has been accredited since 1995 by the German Stroke Foundation.

The objectives of the Foundation are to support health promotion and to improve preventive care, acute care and rehabilitation of stroke patients.

In October 2003 a new accreditation procedure for Stoke Units was introduced. In November 2003 the stroke unit of the Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH was accredited as a supraregional Stroke Unit, in accordance with the criteria of the German Stroke Foundation.

The main task of the Stroke Unit is to identify a stroke as early as possible and to define the most important procedures to be adopted, depending upon the type and level of severity of the disease.
